Hi, My name is Brian Novotny:

My interest in kinesiology and biomechanics started young, competing in various sports and finding mental solace in pushing myself passed what I was capable of. Around 17, despite a bright mind and plenty of ability, I fell into the wrong crowd, and began drinking heavily, abusing alcohol to the point of blacking out, endangering others with irrational choices behind the wheel, along with ditching school and being naive and petrified of the future. I was lost, angry, and confused. I knew I needed structure and something to change my path for the better.

in 2006, I joined the United States Marine Corps, where I served in Ramadi, Iraq in 2007—and Helmand, Afghanistan in 2009 in a infantry battalion. The fortitude, leadership, and mental adversity through the military guided my conscious to illuminate better tactics in my self care, which transitioned my career from a combat veteran, to an athletic trainer. I have, since then, worked with over 5k clients in corporate and private settings in California, North Carolina, and now back home in Illinois.

I used my Post-911 GI bill to complete my schooling in exercise physiology and developmental neuroscience, to generate the knowledge to help others achieve neuroplasticity—and obtain real progress in their fitness goals. Essentially, my #1 goal is to guide others to develop the inner dialogue that crushed my darkest insecurities, which gave me courage to move forward, diving into literature, philosophy, ethics—and pushing through the difficult transition in finding my identity. I assist a wide range of clientele (ages 10 to 85) in strength, mobility and injury prevention, weight loss, sports performance, and overall quality of life through exercise selection based on the newest empirical evidence in sport science and movement studies! “You are what you do, not what you say you’ll do.” —Carl Jung
